October Devotions
(10/03) – (10/31)
October is the month of the Holy Rosary!
Beginning on October 3, every weekday of October* (Monday through Friday) at 6 p.m., join us for public October Devotions!
In keeping with the format set down for this devotion by Pope Leo XIII, the ceremony each day consists of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Holy Rosary (5 mysteries), the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the October prayer to Saint Joseph, and Benediction.
Confession will also be available beginning at 5:30 pm.
[* Please check the bulletin or facebook page each week in case of an evening Mass or schedule change on the few days when the pastor will be travelling.]
“It has always been the habit of Catholics in danger and in troublous times to fly for refuge to Mary, and to seek for peace in her maternal goodness; showing that the Catholic Church has always, and with justice, put all her hope and trust in the Mother of God. And truly the Immaculate Virgin, chosen to be the Mother of God and thereby associated with Him in the work of man’s salvation, has a favour and power with her Son greater than any human or angelic creature has ever obtained, or ever can gain. And, as it is her greatest pleasure to grant her help and comfort to those who seek her, it cannot be doubted that she would deign, and even be anxious, to receive the aspirations of the universal Church. This devotion, so great and so confident, to the august Queen of Heaven, has never shone forth with such brilliancy as when the militant Church of God has seemed to be endangered by the violence of heresy spread abroad, or by an intolerable moral corruption, or by the attacks of powerful enemies. Ancient and modern history and the more sacred annals of the Church bear witness to public and private supplications addressed to the Mother of God, to the help she has granted in return, and to the peace and tranquillity which she had obtained from God. Hence her illustrious titles of helper, consoler, mighty in war, victorious, and peace-giver.” – Pope Leo XIII, encyclical ‘Supremi apostolatus’

Adult Faith Formation
7:00pm – 8:15pm
The theme for our Adult Theology series this year is “Our Life in Christ.” We will be picking up where we left off last year, but newcomers are welcome; the previous series is not a requirement. There is no charge.
Catholics and non-Catholics alike are welcome to attend. This class is open to all over 18 years old; we like to get a good turnout of young adults especially.
The first talk this year will start with a recap of the basic principles of Christian morality before considering the Fourth Commandment. Topics covered throughout the rest of the year, include: the commandments of the second table of the Law; the universal call to holiness; the sacraments; sacramentals; prayer; the liturgy.
The class meets two Tuesday a month at 7:00 p.m. downstairs in the church hall. Warm and cold drinks are provided; please feel free to bring snacks to share.

Sisters of Life Young Women’s Retreat
5:30pm (10/18) – 1:00pm (10/20)
Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for women 18 to 35, who are new to Villa Maria Guadalupe, or who have not been on retreat with us in the past two years.
If you were recently on retreat with us (from September 2022- August 2024), please click here to join the waitlist, should there be room.
What is this retreat about?
Join us for a weekend of silence and prayer for women 18-35, including time and space to encounter the Lord, Mass on Saturday and Sunday, opportunities for Sacramental Confession, and Eucharistic adoration. The Sisters will give conferences throughout on topics such as Introduction to Prayer and The Feminine Heart. The silence is broken only for these conferences and for a personal meeting with a Sister, should you desire it.
Villa Maria Guadalupe Retreat Center is a place of renewal, hope, and mercy under the protection of the Blessed Mother. Drawing from the liturgy and teachings of the Catholic Church, the retreats we offer are centered on the Eucharist. The rest, quiet, and prayer at Villa Maria Guadalupe will strengthen retreatants, deepen their spiritual lives, and help them to be “people of life and for life” more fully.
What is my non-refundable deposit for?
We ask for a $50* non-refundable deposit to confirm your registration, as a portion of your total retreat donation. While Villa Maria Guadalupe is donation-only, it may be helpful to know that the total expense for one person over a weekend is about $200 (i.e. a $50 deposit and a $150 donation upon arrival, totaling $200, would cover the entire cost of your retreat). We are grateful for whatever you are willing/able to give!
*Exceptions: We do not want a “cost” to keep anyone from coming on retreat. If you would like to inquire about scholarship possibilities, please call us at (203) 329-1492, and we’d be very happy to speak with you!

(10/03) – (10/31)
October is the month of the Holy Rosary!

Ignatian Prayer Retreat (Sisters of Life)
5:30pm (10/25) – 1:00pm (10/28)
Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for men and women 18 and older, who are new to Villa Maria Guadalupe, who are new to Villa Maria Guadalupe, or who have not been on retreat with us in the past two years.
If you were recently on retreat with us (from September 2022- August 2024), please click here to join the waitlist, should there be room.
What is this retreat about?
This is a silent retreat where you will be taught how to pray in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola (meditation, contemplation, hearing God’s voice, explanation of the “Examen” prayer, etc.) In addition to conferences on prayer given by our chaplain / retreat director, time will be given for practicing Ignatian meditation. The weekend also includes Mass on Saturday and Sunday, opportunities for Sacramental Confession and Eucharistic adoration.
Non-Refundable Deposit Information:

Non-Refundable Deposit Information:

Feast of Christ the King
10:15am – 11:45am
Latin High Mass with chant, polyphony, organ and trumpet for the feast of Christ the King, followed by procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
As the titular feast of the Institute of Christ the King (the religious community which staffs the Oratory), on the feast of Christ the King it is possible to gain a plenary indulgence by attending Mass here.
When Pope Pius XI established the feast of Christ the King in 1925, he fixed it to the last Sunday in October, the Sunday before the feast of All Saints, since Christ exercises his kingship here and now already, especially through his saints.

Non-Refundable Deposit Information:
