TRADITION, the prophet Saint Elijah while atop Mount Carmel saw Mary Ever Virgin in the little cloud that rose from the sea. He and his followers dedicated themselves to a holy, penitential life of prayer, in honor of the Virgin who was to be the Mother of the Savior, Mary of Mount Carmel.
