Feast of Christ the King - 100th Anniversary Celebration

The feast of Christ the King was established in 1925 by Pope Pius XI as a remedy for the secularism of the modern world. In the Extraordinary Form (Latin Mass), the feast is still kept on the last Sunday of October: "thus the feast of the Kingship of Christ sets the crowning glory upon the mysteries of the life of Christ already commemorated during the year, and, before celebrating the triumph of all the Saints, we proclaim and extol the glory of him who triumphs in all the Saints and in all the Elect" (Pius XI, encyclical 'Quas primas').

10:15 a.m. - Solemn Mass
accompanied by brass quintet & polyphonic choir
Procession of the Blessed Sacrament
& Act of Consecration of the Human Race
to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
A plenary indulgence can be gained on this occasion.

6:00 p.m. - Most Solemn Choral Vespers
& Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
followed by festive reception in the church hall
